IT Accessibility Policy

The University of Iowa is committed to providing information technology and systems that are accessible to all users, including users with disabilities and users of assistive technologies. 

The university also maintains an IT Accessibility Policy, with additional recommendations and practices intended to support the development and acquisition of accessible technology.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

As of June 1, 2020, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, Level AA is the technical standard for web accessibility. 

As of April 2024, this standard is extended to all technologies cited in the 2024 Final Rule for the Americans with Disabilities Act, "Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability; Accessibility of Web Information and Services of State and Local Government Entities".

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

As a Title II institution, the University of Iowa supports all efforts to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Both the ADA and university policy call for digital content to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, Level AA.
