In Focus: Understanding ALT Text

Descriptive alternative text, or "ALT text", is text that is associated with images and other non-text elements in a document. ALT text should stand in for an image, conveying content, meaning, purpose, and other aspects in a way that effectively expresses the meaning of the image when the image is unavailable.
