Before or during technology review:

• Obtain and attach the following to the Technology Request:
  • Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR), or similar documentation
  • Vendor agreement to remedy accessibility issues discovered after purchase
  • Name, job title, and contact information for accessibility contact
• Include the preceding with Technology Request

If vendor is unable to fulfill the request, indicate one or more of the following:

• “Per vendor, no VPAT or ACR”
• “Per vendor, no contact information for accessibility”
• “Per vendor, no remedies for issues discovered after purchase”
• “Per vendor, no accessibility documentation available”
• “No response from vendor”
• "Product accessibility issues are known to requestor"
• Other (attach vendor response)

Interpreting the VPAT/ACR

• As part of the Technology Review Process, the IT Accessibility Coordinator will review the VPAT/ACR
• Any accessibility deficits disclosed by the VPAT/ACR will be documented for the requestor
• Accessibility deficits will be included in a recommendation for an Equally Effective Alternate Access Plan

HECVAT

As part of your vendor's documentation, you may receive an additional or alternative document called a HECVAT. As of fall 2021, the HECVAT Lite version contains accessibility information provided by the vendor.

Developing an Equally Effective Alternate Access Plan (EEAAP)

The Equally Effective Alternate Access Plan (EEAAP) should document the unit’s plan for enabling users to complete a task or process. Ideally, an EEAAP should be completed prior to the deployment of your new technology. However, because accessibility defects may emerge after a product has been deployed. The EEAAP also should be considered a living document, subject to review and revision as circumstances change.
