During the first few days of the 100 Days of Accessibility, take some time to reflect on the technology you provide. Consider these questions:

  • What purpose does this tenology serve? What are its primary features? What makes it useful to your audience?
  • How might a person use your technology if the screen is obscured due to glare or low vision?
  • What about a person who can't make out the audio due to a loud, distracting environment, tinnitus, or deafness?
  • Could someone use your technology without a mouse? With a keyboard? With voice control?

Think about small screens, interactive widgets, text and images, messaging features, data visualizations. Whatever reason a person might have for using your technology, what barriers might they experience?

Consider reviewing the W3C's Accessibility Fundamentals resource Accessibility: It's About People (Opens in a new tab or window).
