Key Concepts

- Headings in a document should provide a nested, consistent outline.
- Heading levels should not be skipped.
- Headings should not be used solely for style or formatting.
Check Headings
For each web page or view:
- Activate the Check Headings bookmarklet on the browser’s Bookmarks toolbar.
- Review the Headings panel:
- Do headings introduce topics and sections of the document?
- Are headings nested without skipping levels?
Escalate for Remediation
- No headings
- Skipped headings
- Empty headings
