About GAAD

Global Accessibility Awareness Day, popularly known as "GAAD" is an annual event to raise awareness of digital accessibility and its importance to people with disabilities. Individuals, institutions, and corporations around the world observe GAAD with trainings, demos, conversations, and other events to bring accessibility to the forefront for a day.

Challenges

You don’t have to be an accessibility expert to make a difference. For 2023, we've provided plenty of ways to learn more about accessibility at your own pace this Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Sign up for the GAAD Challenge Event in ICON to earn badges, learn more, and take the 2023 GAAD Challenges. (If you'd rather not sign up, you can find a link to the challenges at the end of this article.)

The GAAD Challenges cover a variety of digital accessibility topics, from policy to assessment, and are designed to promote self-education and investigation. The ICON event includes some additional information, suggestions, and reflection opportunities, as well as individual badges, and a certificate of completion for attempting all of the challenges.

After you have completed your GAAD Challenges, please take a moment to complete the Global Accessibility Awareness Day Challenge Survey. Your feedback will help to inform future training and professional development efforts.

Enjoy the challenges, and thanks for supporting Accessibility@IOWA.
